SS-31, also called elamipretide, has been investigated for mitochondrial function in specific diseases. In the 218-participant MMPOWER-3 trial in primary mitochondrial myopathy, it did not significantly improve the primary walking-distance or fatigue endpoints over 24 weeks versus placebo. That result is specific to this trial and does not establish a general energy or anti-aging benefit.
