A rat study found changes in expression of genes associated with GABA signaling after Selank exposure. GABA is involved in inhibitory communication between neurons, which explains interest in stress-related mechanisms. Changes in gene expression do not themselves demonstrate relief of anxiety or improved attention in humans, and they do not predict a blend's effects.
